One month on

Despite her working for almost a month, she still cant remember simple instructions! It's very frustrating.

This morning, I caught her drinking out of my hubby's mug! He had some leftover coffee and she drank it. When I asked her what was she doing? She lied that she just carried the mug to the kitchen. I told her that I had seen her drinking from the cup and she still lied. I really feel like slapping her. It's clear cut and yet she still lied!

I got real damn pissed as I always feel that a person will only steal food if she is deprived! I made her a pot of coffee and got her to drink all of it. Usually when my sister asked her to make coffee for herself, she said she dont like coffee and will get headache just drinking it! Dont know what kind of shit she is pulling! Anyway, she drank all of the coffee!!

I then got her to cook her own noodles - 3 packets - and she finished all of it as well. I also gave her 2 bananas and she also finished them. I asked her if she had taken breakfast and she said she had 2 slices of wholemeal bread plus cereal and water!

At 3:30 pm, I asked her to make another cup of coffee then gave her a packet of wholemeal biscuits.

Told her I dont mind her eating as long as she dont take the food and hide to eat. It is really very annoying. There is so much food in the house and yet you see this kind of behaviour!

Daily Activities

It's really frustrating training this maid. She never make an effort to remember any instructions given to her.

I had spoken with the agent and was told that if I should return this maid to the agency lesser than a month, the agent will still deduct the $330 from the loan she had taken, which I paid upfront! On top of this, I have to pay $5 per day for this maid's meal! The agent also asked that I keep her in order that I could get her to do the daily cleaning! If she can follow instructions that should be fine. The issue is she is not even following instructions!

The Test

The funny thing about this entry test is that the maids practically memorised 4 sets of 120 questions in the training centre. My current maid was in the centre for 2 months and she practically memorised the questions! Ask her any of the questions after the test like now, I can bet she wont be able to pass the test this time around!

It's a real waste of 2 months in the training centre to memorise useless stuff as the maids just do not understand what they memorised! I feel that MOM should scrap this useless test and put in measures to get the maid agencies to be accountable for the maids bios!

I am in a real dilemma! This maid is underaged and really has not prior working experience or exposure to working life!

Employers are always at a losing end. Most of the maids come into Singapore with barely a week's clothings. As employer, I have to end up having to dress this girl from the basic toiletries to clothes! Ridiculous!

I just found out today that she has only $10 pocket money although I thought that her salary is $340 a month. The agent told me that $330 must be paid to the agent and this cannot be considered as her salary until after her loan is fully paid up! I felt like telling the agent to &^%$##@!

As a maid employer, I cannot deduct from her salary for things that she damaged, lost or any other way that she mishandled anything in the house although I must feed her and she has enough rest! She can happily spoil whatever in the house without getting penalised but lay a finger on her and you will be in trouble with the law! So is this fair??

Discovery

She was supposed to be 24 years old and have vast experience in cooking Indonesian food. There is a very high possibility that it's probably just fried fish, fried chicken, fried eggs, fried, fried, fried of every other food one can think of!

Anyway, on her second day, it's the start of the my hellish days! She simply dont follow instructions. I told her to just wash 5 pieces of the baby potatoes which I intended to boil with the skin. I then told her to cut up some vegetables which I would want her to fry. She washed the potatoes and the vegetables and then she ended up dicing the baby potatoes into cubes along with the skin! Anyway, I told myself to be patient with her as it's only the start of her working days with me.

Instead of her cooking the vegetables, I decided to cook them instead ie the vegetables and the potatoes together! What a combination!!

While she was washing up the dishes, we had a casual chat then I asked her for her age. She told me that she was 18, born in 1988! Something is just not right! I took my calculator and before I showed her, she said she is 19 then she changed her mind again and told me that she is 22. I told her to stop lying and I dont want to hear her anymore.

She told me not to send her back to agent and that she will follow instructions.
This is empty promise!
