The funny thing about this entry test is that the maids practically memorised 4 sets of 120 questions in the training centre. My current maid was in the centre for 2 months and she practically memorised the questions! Ask her any of the questions after the test like now, I can bet she wont be able to pass the test this time around!
It's a real waste of 2 months in the training centre to memorise useless stuff as the maids just do not understand what they memorised! I feel that MOM should scrap this useless test and put in measures to get the maid agencies to be accountable for the maids bios!
I am in a real dilemma! This maid is underaged and really has not prior working experience or exposure to working life!
Employers are always at a losing end. Most of the maids come into Singapore with barely a week's clothings. As employer, I have to end up having to dress this girl from the basic toiletries to clothes! Ridiculous!
I just found out today that she has only $10 pocket money although I thought that her salary is $340 a month. The agent told me that $330 must be paid to the agent and this cannot be considered as her salary until after her loan is fully paid up! I felt like telling the agent to &^%$##@!
As a maid employer, I cannot deduct from her salary for things that she damaged, lost or any other way that she mishandled anything in the house although I must feed her and she has enough rest! She can happily spoil whatever in the house without getting penalised but lay a finger on her and you will be in trouble with the law! So is this fair??
